We introduce the latest featured artist, London group, LABELED MINORITY, as they introduce themselves, what brought him to Hip Hop and where he plans on bringing it. Read on.
IceBurghSociety.com: Where are you from?
LABELED MINORITY: We are a large group that consist of 11 members, if we talk about where our roots or where we were born then some of us come from Jamaica, Panama, Nicaragua, Portugal & Canada but most of us live in London, Ontario while we have one member in Toronto.
IceBurghSociety.com: What got you into Hip Hop?
LABELED MINORITY: Good question. This is a question that we all can share different stories as some us got captivated by the battle scene or just freestyling with friends and taken away into a euphoric state of freedom, while also been drawn by the sounds of many artist and being drawn or connecting with the form of expression! And now we are discovering our own form of way of expressing ourselves.
IceBurghSociety.com: How would you describe yourself as an artist?
LABELED MINORITY: When we describe ourselves, and the different characteristics we have to offer I would say with the heavy influence of boom bap but also trying to be spiritual and in search enlightenment we bring a very diverse sound with some of us showing our frustration, anger, sadness and all the darkness from our path or present and how we do not shy away from expressing our true feelings to show everyone that we feel and that we are on path to being a bright star in the universe and we hope that our poetry can save souls from the struggles of life.
IceBurghSociety.com: What led to your style of delivery and beat-selection?
LABELED MINORITY: Our choices of style delivery just comes each of us within, which is what makes us special. We all try to be ourselves and express ourselves with our own individual style as best as possible but also we feel free to experiment and keep growing as artists as for beat selection if we can vibe to it then will bless it!
IceBurghSociety.com: How do you think you differ from other artists?
LABELED MINORITY: I think we as a group differ from others artists in a way just trying to have fun, while building a movement. We know what is like to be judged and what to connect with those who feel the same. We tried to spread positivity and love with all aspects our high talented team. We are trying to build something good from the ground up and we are not just a group we are a brotherhood, a band of brothers a family.
IceBurghSociety.com: Who influenced your style?
LABELED MINORITY: We all have many influence from, Gang Starr, Hieroglyphics, Nas, Kid Cudi, Eminem, Tech N9ne, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Mic Jenkins and many more but most of us have had a big connection spiritually and musically with Capital Steez R.I.P.
IceBurghSociety.com: What ‘s the most important item in your music collection?
LABELED MINORITY: A lot of us have very sentimental items in our collection from our first album that we have ever purchased, but the most common and important item in our collection is our writing book because it’s a representation of who we are, it’s our life journal and some of the stuff we write might not make it to a song but it's still a presentation and reminder of our growth!
IceBurghSociety.com: Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?
LABELED MINORITY: Dead or alive our dream collabs varied from Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Marley, Capital Steez, Nas, Eminem, Tech N9ne, to dropping rhymes over a DJ Premiere exclusive. But a world wide collab of those pushing the shift for positive awareness, that would be epic.
IceBurghSociety.com: What's the most successful or highest point in your career?
LABELED MINORITY: The highest point of our career varies for each individual to some the highest point is Chase March having us on CHRW 94.9 Word is Bond, TO this blessing of this interview. From the everyday bond we build together through the struggles of music to just learning to pick each other up and building beautiful music and having every opportunity to showcase it to the world, I guess you can say every day that we grow within is our highest point in our career.
IceBurghSociety.com: Any Final Shout-Outs?
LABELED MINORITY: Well that would be long lol, but here we go! Mad respect to our families, friends people who support us to the promoters who give us the opportunity to grow, to all the beautiful people that say hi to us and give us advice on how to improve , help us grow. To all our supporters that show love to our music and to every musician of any gender that are doing music to make this world a better place, one love to you all!
